Since I have been doing PowerPoint presentations at work all day, I am stuck in bullet point mode. So as to not try to break my flow, I will do the post in same form..
Fun Activities
Went to Wicked, Avenue Q, and August:Osage County.
Walked from ground zero to wall street.
Went to Ellis Island
Went to Central Park
Ate in Little India
Hung out In Time Square
Exceeded Expectations
The boards in Time Square are amazing..
The MTA gets you anywhere pretty fast..
Central Park is huge and quiet.
Strange Things
Garbage piled on curbs up to 8 feet tall..
Every MTA station had its own odor.
There seemed to be only one street vendor for whole city. (Same food, same cart, similar guy on every block)
All the nice guys I met were from New Jersey
I would review the musicals I saw, but I don't want to bring on the wrath of the "wicked" |

Well got back from my trip to NYC with ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) afwiii and had a good time which I will put in later post. Right now I am still shopping for either a nettop or smart phone. New York made it clear that I have to support all methods of communication all the time.
Of everyone I knew in NY, not one of my friend in New York would "call" me.. They wanted either email them, message them online, or SMS. I can't do any of that on my cell phone, and so had to run back to laptop in room to message. The end result is of my 5 friends in New York, I got to see none of them even when they were blocks from me. Worst neither I nor my friend could find someone to take on the extra Broadway tickets we had.. So we had extra seat for our coats for Wicked, Avenue Q, and August:Osage County..
I keep forgetting that playing it by ear means that you have no better chance of meeting than winning a lottery scratch off card :) |

Well last minute trip to NYC to see a few broadway shows.. Wicked, Avenue Q, and something else I never heard of.. Never really been here before.. Flew into Long Island, took the train into Penn Station, and walked a few blocks to hotel..
So far a LOT like Chicago, just a bit more intense.. More shops, more people, more trash ;)
We will see how this goes.. |

Almost every time I go to event and drink and stay up, I come home and get sick. This time is no exception.. Good thing it is snowing hard, so can't go out anywhere anyway.. At least the puppy will be happy to have me in.. |

| Back From Bearfest (Notes on Dancing) |

Made it back into work after a few days of bearfest. Actually had more fun this year, and enjoyed the run less. The most fun day was the extra day I came up early just to hand with friends.
The "Bears in Boxers" dance was the best part, with lots of eye candy, and William playing the old industrial mixes of 80s songs; just the way Cro-Bar in Chicago used to. I managed to dance most of the night without even realizing it. |

| Cedar Point |

So this last weekend was two days and three nights in Sandusky Ohio. This was my first time at Cedar Point amusement park, and I have to admit, it was darn nice.. The roller coasters there are better than at Great America, and the views from the rides are much more intense. I will be posting the pics and comments on the rides as time goes on.

I went to Camp It for the weekend to camp with the bears. Was the first time I took my dog camping as I wanted to wait till he was one year old. I was surprised that for the most part, he actually behaved. He was a bit nervous around all the other dogs, but stayed close and quiet and said hi to everyone.
The big mistake was the cold. Apparently he is not a cold weather dog. He had trouble staying warm at night, even when I was fine. Next time I will have to bring him a little jacket, or better yet, a bear to put on the other side as book ends. Now just need the next excuse to go camping. |

Ok, I have one of those smart phones with windows CE on them.. I can play tons of color,3d, and great sounding games. But I am doing something I have never done in my life. I am playing solitaire. I don't even play to win, just want to veg out and move cards around. Just don't let my boss know what this new productivity tool is doing to my productivity ;) |

Camping season is back and Camp it is open, so this weekend I am going..
Now I must start the packing. Camping for me involves mostly cooking and drinking, so grocery shopping is the primary item I will be doing. A few chips, a few sodas, and a bunch of packets of foil wrapped with me and veggies to throw on the fire.
This will be first time I take my dog. Not sure how that will go, but I got to try it sometime. |

Why is it when I take a day off to do stuff around house, that is the last thing that happens. If I plan to clean kitchen, I organize my sock drawer. When I want to clean room, I wash the car.. Today I sprayed for bugs, but that was not on my list. Do I always have to do everything but what I was supposed to do? |

Lately I have had an excuse for everything. Why my projects are delayed, why my puppy is behind in class, and now why I am not posting on LiveJournal lately.
I think I have been in head down and low profile too long. I have been living on the defensive for a few months now, and I think I need to stop. Not sure where I got overwhelmed or started going on automatic pilot, but I think it had something to do with always preparing for the next layoff.
So time to do some things I am putting off. Posting in Live Journal, getting my Eye Surgery, building a Deck, and most importantly getting out of the house. Having 100 of your closest friends over is no excuse for not going to see them. |

You have to really like a joke if you send it to coworkers, but if it involves a song, just don't do it.
I sent them a link to the Egg Song months ago, and it has played no less than 10 times today. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Thank goodness I get out of here earlier today, and get to go up north for a party. And I promise not to sing the egg song. |

| Puppy Pee Pen |

For a month now, we have had a puppy in my house, a 3 month old Miniature Schnauzer. So far he had been so good about not going in the house, and potty training was working well. This was until we got him a play pen. The puppy is still teething, so he always reverts to chewing on anything he can, even your hand if he is in close proximity too long. To contain this problem, we got the playpen, and would put his toys in there. Well if you are not in the playpen with him, and he has decided when he does not get enough attention, he will just create a carpet puddle so you will take him out of the pee pen.. He starts obedience training in a week, so can only hope I learn how to deal with that. Don't want to leave him in his crate forever.
Next dog I get will be at least a year old and house trained. |

I have been bad and not posted for a while, mostly because of my mindset for the last month. But figured I would post anyway with an example.
When I go into my friends list, a few entries always cause me pause. You see these LJ friends have died. Their accounts remain active, and they will continue to list me as a friend. Still, their last post date is stuck at the day or week of their death. I don't intend or desire a routine friend cleanup to be a mix of memorial and morbidity. Just seems like such an odd place for something like that. |

WEll my birthday weekend was amazingly eventful.. Of course it started with the bear run in Indy. I actually did not have to do many of the bear events because people kept visiting me or Chris. That was good as the bar there is terribly smokey, and they closed the back area. Why so many people wanted to visit this year, I don't know, but was glad to not have to brave the cold.
Monday (my birthday) went to the museum of Science and industry to see the new U505 exhibit.. Had a great time there, and then headed to Ruth Chris for a steak dinner. Now if it only did not take two days to recover from all that fun. But now on to Christmas.. |

Before this last weekends bear night, I went to a friends cocktail party. Not only did I get my socializing in before the bar, I even left early in the evening. I did not get sick from the smoke, I did not have to squint in the poor lighting, and I still got to make my appearance. I do hope that my many friends who live near there take his lead. It is great not starting my night at 10 PM.
I still have a ton of alcohol to get rid of. I guess I could wait till my next party, but I don't expect that many people to make it. The Halloween party went so well I expect people will either think it "too wild" or "had it, done it, been there". Also not being a drinker, I have no idea if six month old alcohol is still good. |

What a perfectly gray day for Halloween. I actually get to take the kids trick or treating, despite my best efforts. I guess it is at least a step up from handing out candy. This year instead of candy, I am giving out toys. Apparently you can get a good deal if you don't really care what you get. This way I do not end up with several months of sugar highs and guilt.
Among the items I forgot to take out for party earlier are Halloween slap bracelets. Yes, the kind you slap against your wrist, the kind that are in vogue with parachute pants and leg warmers. Now just to see if there is a mini rubix cube in there before I let the kids at the toy pile. |

Maybe it is because I don't smile in real life. Maybe it is because I secretly love Hello Kitty. But the truth is I have a problem.
I like using smilies. No periods, commas, or semicolons in most online chat. Each and every sentence is followed by a smile, a wink, or both. Cuteness permeates even the most steamy chats. "Oh yeah, take it {smiley with tongue sticking out}" I must stay sober, and admit the problem.
